History & Biography
Fermento is a brutal death metal band originally from Madrid, Spain that was formed by Roberto Garchitorena in November of 1991. This made the band a forerunner of Spanish death metal. Drummer Jose was soon to join. Bassist Kike was also in. The main man helped out Rotting Christ on bass for a Spanish gig in 1991. The Into the Organs (1994), Fervour Of The Impure (1994), Mummified Alive (a live tape from 1995) and ...The Shining (1996) followed.

The debut album Symbols Of Decrepitude, Symbols Of Supremacy was issued in 1997. The Goremenia pseudo-label ripped off a bunch of fans and disappeared. Robert moved to Ourense, Spain and a new line-up was assembled. Female drummer Sonia became a mainstay. She and Robert were in a band called Unhinged. Robert called the old members 'scum" and uncommitted and explained a tour of Portugal was cancelled due to their lack of commitment. The next album arrived seven years after the first. The third one arrived five years after that and was again on a new label and counted a new line-up. There was a video for the song CA3(PO4)2. Guitarist Isaac joined in 2004 and stayed put.

Spain-based death metal group Fermento released a demo called Acts Of Blood on 28.07.2025.
