FERVENT HATE – TALES OF HATE, LUST AND CHAOS – SATANATH
No, this band’s monicker and album title are not a reference to the American regime and its retarded president. It is a most welcome album of Swedeath… from Peru!
Opening track Evil Twins may actually be referring to Fervent Hate’s relationship to Dismember, which would make sense, except this track casts a wider Swedish net over Sweden than the rest of the album. It has a respectable heavy riff. Death Is Written By Itself follows and is faster, even better than the track before it and pure Dismember sweetness. The bass sound is fabulous. Ten Inches Of Love is sung from the collective point-of-view of the band obviously and is not an Aerosmith cover version. Mrs. Piggy is the Peru-based boys doing something different and actually paying tribute to one of their wives’ on their silver disc. In other words, this song is Fervent Hate’s answer to Michael Bublé’s Close Your Eyes with a more rock-oriented riff, a lot more distortion and an attacking bass. Left Iron Fist sees the band go Deep Purple with those keyboards and then the superb lead comes in over the brutal distortion. Ah sweet Swedeath! The riffing on Confessions is exciting and brutal, while Rotten Crop’s brief keyboards again are silly and out of place.
The mixing and mastering of these tales were conducted by Dan Swanö at Unisound Studio, which just adds to the entire thematic existence of the group. From slow to mid-paced to fast the sound is strong, the roaring vocals gruff, the semi-proficient leads just like early Dismember, which means fans of melody and brutality and roaring Swedeath can scream ‘fuck originality’ an buy this album. – Ali “The Metallian”
