History & Biography The band's album was recorded as Cryer, which existed since 1974 or so, but the band changed its monicker just prior to release by which it had actually disbanded for a year. The name change had occurred because of the label's insistence. As such, it was under the Cryer name when the music was rereleased years later. The band had signed to Heavy Metal Records for three albums, but all that was released was the self-recorded demo material. Cryer also had a single called The Single in 1980 and leaned towards pomp rock. Cryer had also appeared on a compilation called Brute Force in 1980.
The band was from Birmingham and put an effort into its concerts with pyrotechnics. Stuart Clarke died in 2009. Cryer reformed for a couple of local concerts in 2010 and 2011.
