History & Biography
The Russia-based black/death metal band with the German monicker (meaning ‘freedom’) is based out of a city called ‘Archangel’ in the north-west of that country. It was founded in 2014. There was a self-titled demo in 2016, which lead to the independent release Безумие. Ненависть. Смерть. (‘Madness. Hatred. Death’) of 2017. GrimmDistribution picked it up however.

Ведьмин лес (‘Witch Forest’) was a 2018 demo. Yaroslav Kneta left in 2019 and the band became inactive.

Reviews

FREIHEIT - БЕЗУМИЕ. НЕНАВИСТЬ. СМЕРТЬ. – GRIMMDISTRIBUTION
Freiheit is a young death and black metal band whose lyrics and titles, despite its monicker, are in Russian. The material is mostly straightforward and totally underground. This is metal for fans of Incantation and Behemoth that is neither original nor copycat. The growls are favoured, while the drums are not in the productions sweepstakes. The vocals, speaking of which, varies between high extreme and low extreme. The music being mostly straightforward tracks like Правила разрушения and Технократия do showcase a guitarist who can delve into solos and more prominent work should he wish it, which often he does not. The emphasis here is on riffs and rhythm. Мясорубка, interestingly, begins with a riff like Japanese pop band Nana Nakashima’s song Glamorous Sky. This song happens to be the album’s weakest given its primitive nature and clichéd breaks.
Madness. Hatred. Death is extreme and subversive and only the extremist of the metal underground need check in. – Ali “The Metallian”
