Reviews GAST - FORBANNELSER - HORROR PAIN GORE DEATH
Gast appears to be a side project for its members. The musicians may not see it that way, but they are not the most prolific act on the scene and are active in other bands. Forbannelser is a four-track EP that blends early Mayhem and Necrophobic. The focus is on harsh and swift underground death metal with aggressive vocals. Opening number Köttet is the weakest track on offer, but matters improve with the faster Hyllning Till Slutet, which bears a strong resemblance to Necrophobic's style. Girighetens Näste is more akin to Unanimated. The drummer is pounding his kit. The bassist provides a rumbling low end. Kristoffer Karlsson allows the instruments plenty of room, but delivers a vicious vocal performance whenever he enters. Gast does not feature guitar solos, but a brief passage hints at one. Mardrömslik delivers on the atmosphere and heaviness. The bass is really tumbling around on this track. This is a good track with a distinctly underground feeling. - Anna Tergel
