History & Biography
Easley in 1979, disbanded in 1990 and returned in 2015. That was not all. The group tried its hand at a new name between 2016 and 2018 with predictable results. The Glacier monicker was originally suggested by Patrick Goebel who had borrowed it from a lake's name in Oregon, USA. Goebel was on drums until 1982 when he had switched to guitar.

The band released a three-song demo, called Ready For Battle, in 1984. The line-up was the aforementioned guitarists, vocalist Michael Podrybau Tim Proctor on bass and Loren Bates on drums. The following year, Glacier released a self-titled EP on AxeKiller Records, which featured the original band members and guest singers Rex McNew (soon in Ransom) and Keith Flax. The song Vendetta should have become a metal classic… had anyone heard it upon release that is. Guest vocalist here was Rex Mcnew. Goebl and Bates were the sole remaining members on the 1988 demo. A new line-up was recruited, but the act imploded in 1990. A singer was sought and not found at this stage. Guitarist Mehdi Farjami and drummer Loren Bates founded Shocklottery! Bates moved on to the Bible Belt and the Christian act X Over I.

25 years had passed before the band reappeared and released several tracks including self-cover versions. Sam Easley died very soon however. The original idea had been for Easley to reform Glacier, but Devil In Disguise had popped up when Easley had backtracked. Devil In Disguise was a song on the Ready for Battle demo. Keep It True booked Devil In Disguise, a Glacier covers band with singer Michael Podrybau and others for 2017. A line-up playing Glacier's music had assembled in response to a promoter asking to book a band playing Glacier music. The band also played at Legions Of Metal festival back in the land of jumbo shrimp, hand guns and anti-vaxxers. This band rechristened itself Glacier in 2018. The line-up claimed permission from the original members. Tim Proctor returned to this fold in 2018 and played at NW Metal Fest. Naturally, the band also flew to play in Greece and appeared at the Up the Hammers XIII festival in Athens Greece. Other shows worldwide followed.

The group issued its debut album in late 2020. That was - for those counting - 41 years after the group's formation. The catch was that this band was not the same Glacier as the one from the previous century. Regardless, guitarist Marco Martell (who had joined on bass initially) left soon. Someone called Postmortem Apocalypse issued - or rather pressed - the band's demo Spears Of The Empire in late 2022. The label's promotion department kicked in and much publicity ensued. The band had a personalized A&R plan and the label was generous with its tour support. Radio, online media and websites were contacted and… actually nothing happened. Glacier was now based in Chicago as most of the new personnel were from Illinois. The band played at Stormbringer Metal Fest and Headbangers Open Air in 2022. Pyrenean Warriors Open Air booked the band in 2023. The group reported working on a new full-length. The band was making its way to Trveheim festival in Germany and USA's Rage Of Armageddon IX where Leatherwolf was headlining in 2026.
