History & Biography
A Freedom Call-inspired band from Finland (which means they add keyboards to their metal), Gladenfold had a self-titled demo in 2004. The act was founded by the Itälä brothers. Lauri Itälä was briefly on bass to start. The 2005 demo was called Frozen Halls. The 2006 demo was named In Somno. Promo 2008, Time Of Departure and Promo 2010 were next. The group opened for Bal-Sagoth in Finland in 2008. These lead to a 2011 demo called Tales From Worlds Afar.

More than ten years after formation, the band issued a debut album called From Dusk To Eternity in 2014. Long-time guitarist Jaakko Riihimäki left in 2014. There was an uncharacteristic gap between the debut record and its follow-up, When Gods Descend. The record was on Reaper Entertainment. New in the band were guitarist Matias Knuuttila and Toke Gerdts. Nemesis featured new bassist Ville Vesa. Blind Stare played a twentieth anniversary concert with Gladenfold in 2019. Finland-based Gladenfold had a video for the song For My Queen in 2025. The song was taken from the next full-length, which was to be issued through Reaper Entertainment in 2026. First, however, the band was on a Children Of Bodom tribute album. The Soulbound album was issued on February 27th 2026.
