History & Biography
The act was founded in 2020. Nuclear Blast announced the signing of Go Ahead And Die in January 2021. The band featured singer and guitarist Max Cavalera (Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy and ex-Sepultura), his son Igor Amadeus Cavalera and drummer Zach Coleman. Cavalera senior was busy with Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy, Kill Or Be Killed et al, but found time to form another act. Zach Coleman left in 2023. Johnny Valles of Healing Magic came in. The second album was called Unhealthy Mechanisms and issued in late 2023. There was a video for the song Tumors. A dedicated bassist called Jackie Cruz was also added in 2024. Go Ahead And Die and Bodybox were touring the USA.

Max Cavalera’s Go Ahead And Die had an album called Better Dead Than Mainstream: Live At The Marquee Theater through Nuclear Blast Records in late 2024. It was recorded in 2021 as the band was opening for Soulfly. Said Cavalera, “That era gave us a clear view of harmful social issues as authoritarian rule was exploding in aggressive ways. This is a true live album, with no overdubs. It’s as brutal as the pandemic!" Soulfly and Go Ahead And Die had another tour, of the USA, in late 2025.
