Reviews GORENCEPHALIC – GORE OF THE FORGOTTEN - NIHILISTIC HOLOCAUST 
A Bahia, Brazil-quartet formed only in 2023, it has released three singles and two EPs so far. The twist is that the first EP, released in 2024, is the same as this 2026 version. The current version of Gore Of The Forgotten is limited to 200 copies and features the original Brazil-only-released five songs and three so-called bonus songs, two of which are live. This is, therefore, a re-release of sorts. The band is keen to point out that Yuri Hamayano and Krusius Barreto are also members of Deformity BR. Old-school death metal is the music on offer here or, as the band like to call it, "Brazilian death metal putrid". The songs vary in pace, sometimes minute-by-minute, and are not exactly technical, favouring the more brutal and raw complete with sometimes screeching vocals and loud bass. Titles like Human Waste Colony, Metrazol Convulsions, ECT and Body Snatcher provide clues to the band's style and perhaps medical knowledge. Unsurprisingly, the main influence is '90s death metal with the likes of Suffocation being an obvious comparison. Asylum, Procedure and Agony Yells complete this EP with more medical brutality. - Anna Tergel
