History
This Bergen-based black metal band was formed in 2005 by guitarist Phobos and drummer Taakesjel soon issued a demo called Massegrav. The group was initially envisioned as a studio-only act, but soon expanded beyond to the live arena. With Daud on bass guitar Gravdal issued the Sadist album, but the bassist was soon out of the band. The Norwegian black metal band released a new full-length album, called Torturmantra, in May, 2010 through Unexploded Records. Enslaved’s Herbrand Larsen produced it. The band was touring with Gorgoroth and Keep Of Kalessin. The band was also booked to play Inferno Festival 2010.

Gravdal is an area near Bergen, Norway, but could be construed to mean a ‘deep grave’ as well.
