History & Biography
The group formed in 2014 and recorded a demo. Members were scenesters like the prolific Matt Harvey, musician and roadie Robin Mazen and Gus Rios. Death metal project Gruesome featuring members of Exhumed, Possessed, Derketa and Malevolent Creation and Relapse would issue a full-length for the group in April of 2015. The sound and concept nodded to Death as Matt Harvey and drummer Gus Ríos were both part of the Death To All tours (and Left To Die and Living Monstrosity, etc.).

Exhumed's Matt Harvey was the vocalist. Savage Land was recorded at Riversound Studio in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, mixed by Jarrett Pritchard at Mana Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida and featured a guest guitar solo on Closed Casket by James Murphy as well as cover art by illustrator Ed Repka.

Following the 2015 full-length debut, Gruesome returned in 2016 with a new EP entitled Dimensions Of Horror. It was produced by the band and co-produced and recorded by Jarrett Pritchard at New Constellation RMP Studio in Orlando, Florida. Gruesome’s Twisted Prayers was released on through Relapse Records in June 2018.

Twisted Horror was an Exhumed and Gruesome split in 2020. Obituary was to embark on the RedNeck Run III U.S.A. tour with Gruesome and 200 Stabs Wounds in March and April 2022. The band uploaded a song called Frailty in the spring of 2024. The group was working on a new album, which was to be its take on Death's Human full-length. Gruesome returns to Europe in support of Sabbat from June 27 through July 13. The bands offered a split single for sale on tour. Exhumed's Sebastian Phillips was an addition live guitarist. The act was also appearing at Obscene Extreme. Gruesome returned with Silent Echoes in 2025. The band reported the album to be more nuanced than the previous material. It was recorded and mixed by Jarrett Pritchard at New Constellation Studio in Orlando, Florida. There was a video for the song A Darkened Window. The album was dedicated to the memory of Sean Reinert (Cynic) and Chuck Schuldiner (Death).
