History & Biography
Gurkkhas is the more brutal continuation of Delayed Action Bomb. The new monicker was chosen to represent the heavier style compared to D.A.B. and was inspired by a style of knife and military special forces. The band's debut appeared on Massacre Records, saw next to no promotion and the band jumped onto the Morbid Records roster. Romain Bellec was the bassist for the second record. Gurkkhas signed to Morbid Records for three albums. The singer managed Dead Sun Records. The band has a militaristic image - even on-stage. As the band readied to re-enter the studio in order to record a new album for 2003, a search was initiated for a guitarist to join the band. Flesh Divine released an album in the middle of 2003.

Reviews

GURKKHAS - ENGRAVED IN BLOOD, FLESH AND SOULS - MASSACRE
Formed out of the ashes of DAB, French combo Gurkkhas (Referring to Nepalese warriors) has refined its death metal even further and released a very tight album with appeal to followers of Sinister and Malevolent Creation. The speedy delivery is only occasionally broken with this band to introduce a more technical or involved riff and then its head down back to breakneck speeds. The sound is right on the money and the band means serious business judging by the assault mounted here - all that remains is some sort of a commitment from their label to get this heard. In the meanwhile check out these 'All Weather Warriors'! - Ali "The Metallian"

GURKKHAS - A LIFE OF SUFFERING - MORBID
Imagine that! An album recorded and released on time without any delays. When Gurkkhas sent a note last spring that they have left Massacre, signed to Morbid, will record an album in the summer and release it in the autumn, no one would be considered overly cynical for realistically expecting the album mid-2002! Never mind, for the first of three albums for Morbid Records is here and, no surprises, the French jungle metalling trio has stayed true to form and recorded eight tracks akin to Sinister. Some tracks are Born On A Day Of War, Kukri and The Day Of Battle and if you have not guessed by now or haven't seen one of the band's promo photos these Frenchmen are all dressed and ready to go tour with Jungle Rot! - Ali "The Metallian"
