History

The band was formed in 2011, but was operating as Suicide Heaven since 2009. The group issued a demo called Without Hesitation and obtained a contract based on its Children Of Bodom-meets-Arch Enemy sound. The band supported its debut with Japanese, Taiwanese and South Korean shows. Bassist Shogo was jailed and had to leave the band. Sapporo, Japan’s (earlier Tokyo) melodic death metal band Gyze had an album entitled Black Bride to be released on the 9th of June 2015 through Italy’s Coroner Records. The album had been mixed and mastered by Ettore Rigotti at The Metal House Studio (Babymetal, Disarmonia Mundi, I Killed The Prom Queen, Destrage, etc.). The band opened for Carcass and Children Of Bodom in China. The group toured Europe supporting Battle Beast and Majesty in 2017. The group had performed at Summer Breeze festival the year before. Shuji left in 2019, but returned in 2020. His stool was kept warm by Han-Nya. The Oriental Symphony EP of 2021 was out through Out Of Line Music, which had licensed the band’s last album.

Shuji and Ryoji are brothers. The band’s monicker is inspired by the Egyptian town and the brothers’ father’s barber shop. Shinkai was Ryoji’s guitar teacher. The band has called its music ‘samurai metal’ and mixes metal with folk melodies.
