History & Biography The group changed to its current monicker in 2007 and issued Funeral Rites for the Living in 2009. Canticle Of The Beast: A Collection Of Unreleased Demos was a 2010 compilation. After creating, then scrapping, the entirety of the planned sophomore follow-up to 2010's Funeral Rites For The Living, Ryan Scott Fairfield retreated from music and into the rural backwoods. A chance encounter with founder Jonathan Curless drew him into a brief period living with The Church Of The Final Pilgrimage in 2017. The experience drew him to write an album devoted to death. The solo industrial doom project Hallowed Butchery and Aesthetic Death released Deathsongs From The Hymnal Of The Church Of The Final Pilgrimage on March 26th 2021. It had been issued independently a year earlier. The project became quiet.
