History & Biography
Hard Stuff - love the name - was an early '70s hard rock band signed to Deep Purple's Purple Records. This was not a coincidence seeing how Gustafson came from Episode Six, which had featured Ian Gillan and Roger Glover at one point. Deep Purple's Gillan and Glover would also lend a hand with the songwriting.

Du Cann and Hammond had left Atomic Rooster due to disagreements over that band's more melodic direction. The band was called Daemon and then Bullet at first. Another Bullet was active across the pond and in those days bands wanted a unique identity. The singer was Harry 'Al' Shaw who would later surface in Export. This man was fired and the vocals for the debut record was retaped. The band was only active between 1971 and 1973. The act's career was cut short by a car crash in which Du Cann and Hammond were badly injured. A second record was issued but the act did not continue.
