History & Biography
The tastefully-named Heavy Metal Army was a super group of sorts from Japan’s American occupied territory of Okinawa that was founded in 1980. The band appeared at the East West 1982 battle of bands. They only issued one album before changing their monicker as Sugama and Takeuchi left.

Bassist Watanabe Naoki of Spectrum and Yamamoto Kyoji (as Mr. X) of Bow Wow was a guest guitarist on the record. The band incorporated Okinawan rock influences with heavy metal. The band’s album and the more spacy Eastern Orbit’s records were re-released in 2013, but before that the group was slotted on the Nexus Dong Burning Mega Mori compilation of 2012 alongside Anthem, Blindman and others.
