History & Biography
The melancholic, shoegaze and environmental band has been in existence since 2006. The band was from the other side of Germany, but reported its monicker was a mixture of the English word 'heresy' and French conjugation of 'toir' meaning 'being yourself' or 'on your own.' The solo act of Eklatanz had a demo called Existenz. Pest Productions of China expanded this - now entitled .Existenz.- into an EP. The man began utilising concert musicians and playing live as of 2011. Pest Productions also released Wiedersehen - Unsere Hoffnung, which was a split release with Thränenkind. 2011 was the year the group's debut album was issued. The group was invited to play at Autumn Depression in 2011. Agrypnie, Der Weg Einer Freiheit and Heretoir announced a 2013 tour. It was dubbed Aetas Cineris Tour. Dornenreich and Heretoir toured in 2014. It was with 2017's The Circle that the band became an ensemble and operated as a trio. Max and Matthias had joined Eklatanz. Kalmah, Nothgard and Heretoir toured in 2017. The Circle had a song called Golden Dust and the band recorded a self-cover version, called Golden Dust (Acoustic Version), for 2019.

Wastelands was a 2023 EP. Nightsphere was the last record for Northern Silence productions despite the band having signed for four records initially. Guitarist Max left in 2023. There was a tour with Firtan and Outlaw in 2023. New guitarists Kevin Storm (as of 2022) and Stefan Dietz (as of 2024) were session professionals jumping from pay cheque to pay cheque.The group was billed at Party. San Open Air in 2024. The years 2024 and 2025 meant gigging with Harakiri For The Sky. Germany-based ‘post’ band Heretoir had a music video for the song Season Of Grief, which was taken from the Solastalgia album. The full-length was available through AOP Records in September 2025. The band was touring Europe again with Der Weg Einer Freiheit. Folky band Havukruunu and Heretoir announced a couple of shows in Greece for March of 2026. Heretoir announced headline dates called the Solastalgia Over Europe tour for the autumn of 2026. Opening would be Unreqvited and Nidare. 'Solastalgia,' incidentally referred to environmental damage caused by humans on the environment.
