History & Biography
This heavy metal band with a penchant for fantasy and laden with keyboards was called Iliad between 1998 and 2002 before changing its name. Members had come from the act Oracle. The logo featured a prehistoric creature. Ilium was the 2002 demo. The demo tracks reappeared on the group's late 2003 debut album. Keyboardist Corey Gilchrist was the son of band bassist Peter Gilchrist at this stage. Corey was hit by a train, losing his foot, and prompting the members to depart. Vespertilion featured singer Tim Grose. Ageless Decay brought in Mike DiMeo and a keyboard player called Kaspar. The band had switched to Escape Music, a label that provided as much promotion for its bands as Cheezels provide respite for your visceral fat. In that sense, this label was like the group's other labels.

The band next switched to Nightmare Records and hired the label's Lance King to sing, something the group would later do with Giles Lavery. The band claimed to be metal, yet did a cover version of Bee Gees for its Wendigo EP. 2017's Sirens Of The Styx: Re-Styxed was the trendy self-cover version release. Lord Tim of Dungeon was drafted to sing many of the songs again. The man had also often produced the band's music. Enviro-Metal was a topical 2019 EP. It was crowdfunded. Carcinogeist was a 2020 demo. Scythe Ballet was on a new label. BraveWords Records announced the Bandcamp digital release of Australia-based band Ilium's 2026 album, Scythe Ballet. The album was issued through Arkeyn Steel Records on CD. The band featured the label's Giles Lavery on vocals who was doing a tour of a dozen or so bands.
