History & Biography Imperator was one of the first all out thrash bands in Poland having
been formed in Lodz in 1984 with drummer Adrian behind the kit. The fledgling act played cover versions. Adrian left in 1987. The band's 1986 demo Endless Sacrifice was a rough affair, but was followed by Deathlive and Eternal Might. Euronymous of Deathlike Silence showed interest in the band and an album was supposedly
scheduled for the label. The album was issued by a Polish label in April of 1991. A planned Polish tour by the band and Mayhem was also cancelled because the Norwegians were low on funds. The same was reissued by Pagan Records six years later. The
band reformed in 1998 with Bariel for a short while and released the
Existential Prophecy demo in 1999. The act split up in 2000.
The pompously titled Unholy Bible Of Polish Death Metal Vol. 1 compilation was released through Apocalypse Productions in 2004. The band reformed of course, in this case in 2018. Bariel was on vocals and guitar, Chris returned on guitar, Novok was on bass, but departed in 2022, and Richter was on drums. The last man also departed in 2022. Early drummer Carol died in 2020. Drummer Simon Rowiński joined in 2022. Michael of Pandemonium came on bass in 2023. Mystifier and Imperator played in London, England in 2023. The band was also booked for Never Surrender Vol. III in Berlin for December. bassist Michael (Pandemonium) joined in 2023.
Imperator is Latin for 'Emperor.'
