History & Biography
In order to avoid confusion with all the other Insanias overrunning the world these Swedes are known as Insania Stockholm. No word whether that city has granted them its official key as a token of gratitude. The band was formed in 1992 by guitarist Juhano and drummer Korsback and went through multiple line-up changes. Signing to the local No Fashion Records the band's first two albums were part of a concept sub-titled Hymns Of Stockholm. Henriksson left in 2001. The third featured Roland Grapow as a guest.
Separating from the label the band released a 2004 demos before reappearing with a new album in 2006.

A new record appeared in 2021. V (Praeparatus Supervivet) was on Frontiers Records and supported by a video for the song Praeparatus Supervivet. The Great Apocalypse was also on Frontiers and released in June 2025. Tomas Stolt and Peter Östros had already departed. Erik Arkö was the new bassist. The band was booked for a show called Epic Fest in Denmark in 2025. It was to be the act's first live appearance in a decade.

Reviews

INSANIA STOCKHOLM - SUNRISE IN RIVERLAND BEWARE OF THE DRAGONS - NO FASHION
So far as I know, Insania is a Swedish band and this very long player is their second album. It is my first encounter with them and it is yet another case of so much unfulfilled potential. Insania is a competent speed metal band that behind the busy album cover art delivers high-pitched vocals (Stratovarius, Michael Kiske, Freedom Call, etc.), speedy and melodic riffs (Helloween, Gamma Ray, etc.) and a clear sound; all of which could and should make them speed metal heroes. Well, it almost happened. Proving once again that humans are just lesser form of sheep, Insania yank out the keyboards to ascertain that they adhere to the trends of the day. Whereas not only metal does not allow for keyboards, one quick listen and it is clear that the filler instrument is just that and completely pointless. Still, and aside from the complete and explicit Hotel California plagiarism - fast forward to three minutes into track four Beware of the Dragons - Sunrise... is another in the string of well-played and classy speed metal albums from Europe and I suspect fans of the above-mentioned groups will converge on this outfit. Let's just hope the band is serious enough to clean up its act next time. - Ali "The Metallian"
