History & Biography A progressive metal band, the Denmark and Faroe islands-based act was founded in 2015. Guitarist Jens had begun exploring progressive music in order to form a space rock act in 2009. The group entered Sweet Silence Studios and tape a demo, called The Wizard Falls, which appeared in 2016. Singer and bassist Benjamin Møller Jensen left in 2017. It all went quiet until a signature on the dotted line with Metal Blade Records and a 2021 album. The singer’s Hamferð was already on Metal Blade. The band and the label signed for three records although the group had completed the album on its own time and dime.
The band signed with BARSK Agency as its management. To mark the anniversary of the album’s release the group issued Access All Worlds - An Acoustic Voyage, which was a compilation of Classical guitar music from the record by the two brothers. The proceeds were to benefit Ukraine. A tour of Europe with Arcturus was cancelled. The group travelled to Syðrugøta, Faroe Islands, which was Jon’s home, for the G! Festival in 2022. The group was booked for the Næstved Metalfest together with Candlemass, Rotting Christ, Dagoba and others in August 2022.
Iotunn was recording a new album in 2022. The band was booked for the Karmøygeddon Metal Festival 2023. The band was confirmed For 70000 Tons Of Metal 2024.
Denmark and Faroe Island-based progressive band Iotunn released its second full-length album, entitled Kinship, through Metal Blade Records on 25.10.2024. There was a video for the song I Feel The Night. “Set in primaeval time, Kinship unfolds the story of a tribesman who is part of a prehistoric tribe. It tells the story of life’s many conditions…”
