History & Biography
Iron Kobra - also the name of a comic book while 'Iron Cobra' is the name of a Japanese drum pedal - has been around since 2008. A couple of founding members came from the Viking metal band Minjar. The band's 2009 demo was called Cult Of The Snake and featured several Metallian Towers serfs who were hired to model for the cover. The songs did reference martial arts and Norse mythology, but the song Ronin also indicated a fascination with Japan, a topic that soon became a trend on the metal scene and with Iron Kobra. The band appeared at the Revenge Of True Metal festival in Italy in 2009. Regardless, the material also appeared on Heavy Metal Drunk Machine, which was a split release with Witchcurse in 2011. The group toured Europe, but had to cancel a French gig when its drummer became ill. The Battlesword EP of 2010 (Iron Glory Music) waved the Japanese imperial flag on its cover. The live album Live At Crom's Palace was re-released as Live From Crom's Palace in 2012. It featured a cover version of a Thor song and sported a speed metal logo. Incidentally, Lightning Lord Python played Thor cover songs in Iron Thor. The band was billed at Heavy Metal Overkill Open Air in 2012. Drummer Commander Conda departed and was replaced by another Conda.

The debut full-length again hired maidens from Metallian Towers as models and came out in 2012. Dungeon Masters was recorded by Wally Walldorf of the punk band Toxoplasma. The group was at the Thrash Assault festival. Might & Magic was recorded by Peter Nawotka who was the father of the already departed Commander Conda. The band had worked with the producer for its participation on an Anvil covers' album previously. The band was billed at the Harder Than Steel Festival. Drummer Ringo "The Animal" Snake left in 2016. The group was booked for Storm Crusher Festival in 2016. The band lost its original member singer Lightning Lord Python, who was also in Iron Thor, in 2022. Sadistic Goatmessiah opened for Japan-based Risingfall and Iron Kobra at a show called Bōryoku Fantasy in Germany in 2025. The show's name translated into 'violent fantasy' from Japanese. The band itself made it to Japan in 2025.

Eleven years after the release of its Might & Magic album, Germany-based Iron Kobra had an album called Eternal Dagger through Dying Victims Productions on 19.06.2026. There had been a couple of split releases in-between the full-lengths. Sir Speed joined the speed metal band Vulture as a live member. Iron Kobra released a statement in support of Digital Independence Day… on Facebook.

The band names its albums after old RPGs.
