History & Biography The folk/dark metal band was founded by singer and multi-instrumentalist Gofid as a solo act in 2014. Oer was a 2017 demo and established the act's penchant for Welsh nationalism. Dechrau was the 2017 demo. 2018's Gwaglewch was an instrumental demo. A cover version called Yma O Hyd featured UK's Prince Charles on its cover. Welsh Nationalist Black Metal was a 2021 demo. Someone called Marwolaeth Records issued the Fe Godwn Ni Eto demo. Gofid was arrested by the local constabulary in 2021. He was investigated for incitement including carrying T-shirts with the “burn your local holiday home” motto. A demo called Metel Du Gwir Cymrei was forcibly postponed consequently. The constables cited the song Meibion Glyndwr about a Welsh nationalistic group, which was responsible for the burning of English owned holiday homes and offices in Wales during the 1980s. Shattered was the 2022 EP.
The man switched over to a foreign label and had Cynefin issued through UKEM Records. Gogoniant was back with a Welsh label.
Wales-based solo act Iselder is back with an album called The 38th Division. It will be released through Marwolaeth Records on June 1, 2026. The 38th Welsh Division of the British Army was active during both the First and Second World Wars. Simultaneously, bassist Shuck was welcomed to the fold.
The word 'iseldr' means low in Welsh. Similarly, 'Gofid' means sorrow.
