History & Biography
The Swedish icicles were formed in 2000 in Nättraby, Blekinge near the Baltic Sea. Three demos appeared in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Sol Invictus Recordings issued a band sampler, called Köldens Union, in 2007. The act was billed at Barther Metal Open Air and Thunders Over Miriquidi IV both in Germany in 2009. Mordechai Von Renvaktar, C. Ashuck Von Renvaktar and Fjalar “have set out on a campaign to destroy the sun and all of its followers.” To this end, the band signed with Metal Blade Records for its next album, Blekinge, which was due in 2010. Blekinge was out on June 8th in the US and Canada. Ashuck and Mordechai Von Renvaktar departed in 2011 however.

The next album was on a new label and five years away. The act was a duo now. Isar sang on this record, but was out soon too. Istapp was billed at Heathen Rock Festival in Germany in 2018. The anti-sun group next issued an album called The Insidious Star in 2019. Morg, who had helped out on stage years before, was heard on the guitar on this album. The group was invited to Jönköping Metal Fest 2020 and Metal Fest Sweden 2020. The group was also billed at Dark Troll Festival 2023.

After two albums together, Istapp re-signed with Trollzorn in September of 2024. The act released a new full-length called Sól Tér Sortna through Trollzorn on March 06, 2025. There was a lyric video for the song Under Jökelisen, which had been uploaded on the net already in 2022. The band was booked for Spetakkel festival with Taake, Susperia and others in 2025.
