History & Biography
Jake E. Lee's Red Dragon Cartel, the band of former Ozzy Osbourne and Badlands guitarist Jake E. Lee, would release its debut album on January 28th, 2014 through Frontiers Records. The band was put together from a Jake E. Lee needs a lead singer and drummer Facebook page! The band began playing shows in December of 2013. The Las Vegas and California shows were given bad reviews, which was ascribed to the singer’s illness and fatigue for the former. The latter was ascribed to how singer Darren Smith (Harem Scarem or Helix) had had three rehearsals with the group.

The group toured Europe in 2014 and had Jupiter Falls open for it in the UK and France. The album was recorded at Las Vegas' The Hideout Recording Studio. The group was also invited to play at Download festival at the end of its UK tour. Several singers came and went in 2015. These included Shawn Crosby, Paul D'Eath, Chas West and Michael Beck. Darren James Smith rejoined in September 2015. Darren and Jake had patched up their difference. Patina featured drummer Phil Varone of Skid Row and bassist Anthony Esposito. The former Badlands bassist had joined after replacing Greg Chaisson who was undergoing cancer treatment. Jake E Lee was shot three times while walking his dog in the early morning of the 15th of October 2024. He was hospitalized but doing well. He had reportedly come across thieves in early morning in his south Las Vegas neighbourhood.

The band came about originally when old friend Ronnie Mancuso of Beggars & Thieves helped to coax Jake out of retirement after having the guitarist make a cameo in a video for his band.
