History & Biography
The black metal band Janvs was first heard through the 2004 album, Nigredo. It was released through Pagan Moon. The band was founded as Vinctor's solo project in 2003. The band was composed of singer and guitarist Matteo "Vinctor" Barelli, bassist Claudio "Malphas" Fogliato and drummer/keyboardist Francesco La Rosa. Claudio Fogliato had joined in 2005. Aeternitas Tenebrarum Musicae Fundamentum issued the next album. The label also handled the next album. Journeyman Massimo Altomare was passing through every band out there and so appeared here as well. Janvs was on an Enslaved tribute entitled Önd - A Tribute, 2011.

It took six years for the next album to appear. Nigredo was on Avantgarde Music. Italy-based black metal band Janvs returned and had a full-length called Fatum Est through Avantgarde Music in October of 2026. On this album, each song drew on a myth of Hellenic tradition. This one followed its predecessor by twelve years. Confusingly, Avantgarde's press release referred to the record as an EP.
