Reviews KEN TAMPLIN & FRIENDS - WAKE THE NATIONS - SONGHAUS
Ken Tamplin is best-known for his work with Shout. The singer also has several solo CDs and has done quite a few sessions for well-known bands. The current disc is a collection of melodic and smooth songs recorded with assistance from Tamplin's 'friends.' These include Reb Beach, Marty Friedman, Doug Aldridge, Richie Kotzen and many others. It's quite a who's-who of metal, hard rock and rock guitarists. Having said that, the material is aimed more at AOR fans than metal fans. The melodious nature of the songs and vocals bring to mind the works of bands like Survivor and Foreigner. The CD also features a bonus video. - Ali "The Metallian"
