History & Biography Knell Odyssey was formed in 1994 as a heavy metal band called Knell by guitarist Ricardo Moreno and drummer J.A. Clemento and recorded a demo called Gates Of Reality. The band’s vocalist was Pacho Brea. The young Goldtrack Records issued the band’s only album in November, 1997. The band and label sailed to nowhere and were rarely heard from again. The label claimed the band’s delusions of rock stardom had ruined things for all concerned.
Reviews KNELL ODYSSEY - SAILING TO NOWHERE - GOLDTRACK
At first listen I rather disliked this Spanish label's first release. Having found inspiration from no less than the album title, I gleamed at the easy lead handed me for a negative review. The voice of Alberto Antunez, you see, was too shrilly for me upon first listen. He sounds like an extreme version of Queensrÿche's Geoff Tate. The more one listens to the album, the more it begins to grow in stature. The label compares the band to the German heavy metal sound. Yes, the post Iron Maiden roller coaster parts emulated by Helloween in the speedier moments are surely one dimension of K.O., but the band can be described more accurately as a cross between Queensrÿche and the pomp rock of Dream Theater. Any hard rock and heavy metal fans interested in traditional metal in the vein of Fates Warning and the above-named should take a look at this. - Ali "The Metallian"
