History & Biography Goth, avant-garde and metal, Austria’s Korova (Cow in Russian, named after an ex-girlfriend) had it all. The band was formed in 1990 and also issued an EP called Echowelt in 1997. The band would bear a new name, Korovakill in 1998, and go into a more gothic direction. Korovakill signed to Red Stream Records in the USA.
Reviews KOROVAKILL - WATERHELLS - RED STREAM
Sporting one of the uglier logos seen out there, this mysterious Austrian band manages to mix elements of (believe it or not) Bethlehem, Manowar, Himinbjorg and mime music to present this story of a lost fisherman in the middle of nowhere. The Ancient Mariner he might be, but Korovakill is a little too much to stomach with the samples, the hoarse 'vocalising', the odd female belching and that one particular segment where the band races the keyboardist's one finger playing attack. The sad part is that the trio can actually play and could have veered into the serious metal territory. As is, the band is one of those oddities that only Red Stream can discover and release. - Ali "The Metallian"
