HistoryLegend hails from the Channel Islands and never got the break it perhaps deserved during the NWOBHM days. Haworth who came from Dr. Morbius formed the band in 1980. Mike Lezala was a folk singer. The band issued two albums through its own Workshop label before disbanding in 1984 with a farewell gig at the Marquee club. Lezala had left to commit himself to his day job and the band was unable to find a suitable replacement. It had also obtained the opportunity to open for Thin Lizzy locally in 1981. Neil Haworth, Peter’s brother, later handled bass after Aubert was forced to leave upon sustaining an injury. The band reformed in 2002 with three original members and issued Still Screaming in 2003. Monster Records also issued a band anthology in 2002. The band’s 2013 demo (through Workshop) was called The Dark Place and re-issued by High Roller. Another compilation emerged in 2014.
Legend is known for its socially conscious lyrics.
