History & Biography Polybius became Litost in 2015. The group had a self-titled demo in 2019. The same year offered the Ethos demo. The band had a demo called Pathos in 2023. The band explained that the monicker was “a term coined by the Czech philosopher Milan Kundera and related to introspection and human misery.” Multiple members came and went.
More self-cover versions arrived in 2024. A mere five years after its original release, Litost rerecorded the drums with a new musician and had singer and guitarist Manri redo the rest for its Ethos demo. Ethos, its follow-up Pathos and Logos, the last of which was still to come, were to form a trilogy inspired by the three means of persuasion explained in Aristotle’s Rhetoric. Moreover, the band promised to mix flamenco into metal!
Spain-based band Litost signed with Art Gates Records in 2026. The music drew from the idea of ‘Litost’, as defined by novelist Milan Kundera (a reflection on inner conflict, self-awareness and emotional collapse).'
