History & Biography The duo came together in 2020. They had been in the ethnic band Vanir together. Uprising Records signed the band in the same year and issued an EP called Nihil Sacrum followed by another entitled Angelus Pestis. The duo began using live musicians.

Reviews LOTAN - YETZER HARA - EMANZIPATION
In Judaism, 'yetzer hara' refers to the human inclination toward evil. Indeed, it feels like we now have an exact term for what Netanyahu and his henchmen are doing. I wonder if Judaism has a set temperature in hell for those who practice yetzer hara. Drawing from the biblical tale of Cain and Abel, the band informs us regarding their art that "This is not escapism. This is resistance. In the name of distortion”. Resistance against?
The album begins with Slayer chords. The gruff, processed growls recall Illdisposed, but while Lotan's fellow Danes lean melodic, this album offers no such concession. Momentary Slayer-ism aside, the music is as harsh and unforgiving as the vocals. The opening is starkly foreboding before the material erupts with utmost speed and heaviness. Scorched Tyranny is even better. Galloping brutality pauses just long enough to gasp for breath before crushing heaviness returns. At one point, the sound rages atop of the strumming guitars. The album has a good production value. The vocals are definitely wild, as is the tempo change. Omnicide Manifest is less accomplished and perhaps could be compared with Satyricon's early days. Crown Of Rope exemplifies how effective death metal art is with crushing speed and a distorted bass - the calm outro notwithstanding. Towards the album's end, Violent End contains proper heavy growling and one heck of a heavy riffing. More heavy riffing and threatening force are on the album's closer, Righteous Fury. Forget my description. Just call it righteous fury.
This is an album of formidable stuff. On occasion, for better or worse, there is a feeling that the vocals and the music are detached and were recorded in isolation. This is not a consistent feeling. Incantation Of Hatred is a song with the vocals and music in tune, but the sense of distinction does make itself known. Perhaps they were recorded separately. - Anna Tergel
