History & Biography
With a Luciferian attitude in tow, doom/occult band Lucifer ignored the two-dozen other metal and non-metal Lucifers running around and named itself Lucifer in the year 2014 AD. Members, including the frontwoman, were spread across the globe even if they came from The Oath and regardless, conforming to modern norms, began coming and going all the while being in multiple projects at the same time. To start the band was German singer Johanna Platow Andersson, guitarist Gaz Jennings and drummer Andrew Prestridge. The drummer was formerly of Angel Witch (and The Oath), which at one time had been called Lucifer too. German bassist Dino Gollnick came and went in 2015. His immediate replacement was Pagan Altar’s Diccon Harper.

The band had a doomy sound meshed with rock music and was picked up by Rise Above Records. The label was launched by Cathedral’s Lee Dorrian. Gaz Jennings was formerly of Cathedral and had worked at the label. Lucifer I arrived in May 2015. There was a video for the song Izrael. The album was preceded by a 7” called Anubis through Rise Above. The band parted ways with guitarist Gary "Gaz" Jennings and drummer Andrew Prestige in early spring 2017. Lucifer II was on Century Media and featured Johanna, alongside her husband Nicke Andersson (Entombed, etc.) and guitarist Robin Tidebrink. There was a tour with Spell. Lucifer III kept the husband and wife and added guitarists Martin Nordin and Linus Björklund. The pandemic cancelled a tour of the band entitled The Third Commandment - Europe 2020. Philip Shouse of Ace Frehley, Accept, etc. was the band’s touring bassist during this period. Lucifer IV re-introduced a bassist into the fold. His name was Harald Göthblad. The band put out a couple of cover versions in 2021. A Coffin Has No Silver Lining (The Sistine Version) was a video in 2023. The band announced The Satanic Panic Tour With Coven in 2023. 2024 brought the second part of The Satanic Panic Tour alongside Attic and The Night Eternal.

Lucifer V was on Nuclear Blast Records. Lucifer hired drummer Adam Lindmark to help out with gigs. He was replacing the previous live drummer Henry Vasquez. Tanith, Lucifer and The Night Eternal were touring Europe in the autumn of 2024. The band was booked for Beyond The Gates 2025 - Chapter XIII.
