History & Biography
The reason Mensa’s chapter in the Czech Republic has so few members is not that the country’s population is particularly dumb (although they do vote for the SPD there), but because one Mensa membership qualification question is, ‘List all of Lycanthrophy’s releases.’ The grindcore act was founded roughly ten years after Agathocles in 1998, but has competed for its Belgian cousins’ throne through sheer number of random releases including EPs, split records and compilations. The band has merely released a couple of full-length albums however. Interestingly, the band’s 2003 demo was called Obscene Extreme, which is the name of a grindcore festival in the country since 1999. The band played at the festival in 2003.

The act was slightly delayed due to Petr’s military service. The first release was a split with Slovenia-based Dickless Tracy in 2001. An early vocalist in this period was Marsta (ex- Mrtva Budoucnost). The Mosh As Fuck demo followed in 2002. The band appeared on The Opinions Of Noise video compilation in 2003. Female singer Zdisha left the band after fifteen years of activity in 2019. The act embarked on a tour of the U.S.A. and toured with Cryptic Void and played at the Maryland DeathFest in the USA.

Lycanthrophy’s On The Verge Of Apocalypse album is out through Horror Pain Gore Death.
