History Miss Lydia Taylor was a Mississauga, Canada resident who was born in Sudbury and began her career singing locally in this shabby Toronto suburb. She was discovered and signed to a management deal and subsequently appeared on Helix’s You’re A Woman Now song before her own album was issued.
Her debut album featured a mishmash of studio musicians, but the band hit the road in support of the LP. Surprisingly perhaps, Taylor was nominated for a Juno Award in 1983 and was awarded the prize over Lee Aaron in the Most Promising Female Vocalist Of The Year category. Another eponymous album - same pattern as Lee Aaron - was issued with a rockier tone in 1991 and more touring followed. The album, featuring a cover of AC/DC’s Highway To Hell, was licensed to passport in the USA. The band issued an EP called Bitch. The heavier EP was her last output given the bankruptcy of the Falcon label. Taylor was also part of the Lock Up Your Sons tour alongside Lee Aaron and The Headpins.
Guitarist Rob Manzoli would find his way into Right Said Fred ten years later. Lacasse went into the film industry.
