History & Biography This glam metal band rocked the clubs in the San Francisco area and was famous for boisterous crowds and inviting its audience on stage to party. Ralph and Rik were in a local band called Tyrant. Rik, bassist Karl Reiche and drummer James Bohn would form Mad Anthony when Tyrant bit the dust. Guitarists Kevin Mannion and Jim Lewerenz would stay for a year. Another guitarist was recruited, but Kevin would hand in his papers. Karl was also asked to leave. The band might have quit as well, but Rik and James recruit guitarist Freseman and Longo into the fold. The band was playing everywhere in California by 1987.
The band had major label interest, but never was offered anything. With grunge devastating the scene the members threw in the towel and went on to either other bands or becoming family men. Ralph became a businessman, but the band has played the occasional one-off show including one in 2016. Mad Anthony’s Party Heaven Hell Whatever! was a 2021 compilation through Eonian Records.
The band’s monicker refers to Anthony Wayne an American general during the revolutionary wars.
