History & Biography
A part-time crossover band based in Texas, USA, Mammoth Grinder was founded in 2005, was active for nine years before disbanding and predictably returning in 2017. It all started in 2006 with the Mammoth Grinder Goes To College demo. A full-length demo called Rage And Ruin was recorded in 2007 and released in 2008. A 7” called No Results continued the scholastic theme in 2008 until the 2009 EP, Extinction Of Humanity. This one was issued by the local Cyclopean Records.

2010 began with a booking for Relapse 2010 Showcase with Voivod, Tombs and others. Obsessed With Death was a 7” through Hell Massacre Records in 2010. It featured a live cover version of Venom’s Welcome To Hell. The 2010 EP, 2010 Tour, again featured the same track. Mammoth Grinder was billed at Maryland Deathfest IX in 2011. An album emerged in 2013. It was called Underworlds. The band was the opener on a North American tour with Toxic Holocaust, Exhumed and Ramming Speed in 2014. Cannabis Corpse, Inanimate Existence and Mammoth Grinder were touring the USA from November 28th to December 20th, 2014. 20 Buck Spin had repressed Mammoth Grinder’s Underworlds on clear vinyl. The band went on hiatus at this point.

The return of 2017 was followed by Cosmic Crypt. Only Ulsh had come back however. Alongside him were more temp workers. The band was Chris Ulsh now on vocals and bass, Mark Bronzino on guitar and Ryan Parrish on drums. Artwork was handled by Joe Petagno. Wade Allison died in 2020. Mammoth Grinder returned with an EP, entitled Undying Spectral Resonance, through Relapse in November 2024. The line-up included guitarist Sebastian Phillips (Noisem/Exhumed) and bassist Andy Horn (Loud Night) now. Chris Ulsh had switched from bass back to guitar. The band was touring North America with Genocide Pact and Nails alternately and appearing at New England Metal & Hardcore Fest.
