History & Biography Mancuerda was a method of torture during the Inquisition that involved a cord attached to a person and great weight applied in order to tear through skin and muscle. It was also a death metal group as of 2019. Consequently, Through Skin Muscle & Bone (with a cover graphic to match) was a 2023 EP for the band. Brutal Insanity Records released it. In the meantime, bassist Donny left his other band Bloodtomb. Dauthuz was booked for a gig with Mancuerda in 2024. The band had a gig with Denmark-based Hyperdontia in November of 2025. It coincided with the release of a split CD with Grim Fate through Meat 5000 Records.
Reviews GRIM FATE/MANCUERDA - SLAUGHTERHOUSE OF AGONY - MEAT 5000
The Slaughterhouse Of Agony split CD with music by Grim Fate and Mancuerda, is described by the label as showcasing, "two of the heaviest forces in underground death metal." The description is hyperbolic and not to be taken literally, but the phrase is not wrong insofar as both bands are true death/doom metal acts and let in no outside influences.
The disc is mostly slow or mid-paced, but Grim Fate's Forever In Agony and Christian Filth venture into faster territory. Whatever the speed, these six tracks are heavy, crushing, crude and mostly devoid of any type of additions. There is the odd lead, if those simplistic rhythms could be called that, and a film overdub, but overall this is the essentials and fundamentals of extreme underground dirty brutal metal. It's just that two of the six tracks - one per band - are cover versions of Autopsy and Celtic Frost songs. Who needs more of those? - Anna Tergel
