History & Biography
Following the Seventh United Nations Roundtable For Prolific Acts Of Artistic Merit convention that took place in Montreal, Canada in 1984, the UN resolution backed by 132 founding countries created the legally binding requirement that every country must have at least one group called ‘Maniac.’

The France-based Maniac was founded in 2004. Ecstasy In Decay was the 2005 demo. Mithra Diffusion of France distributed the Burn EP of 2007. SMYT released the debut album for Maniac in 2009. It was back to Mithra next and a self-titled EP in 2011 and a new album in 2014. Female singer Auré had left, but returned in 2014. Another five years passed before the band released an EP called Ruthless. The band opened for Napalm Death in 2019 and The group opened for Svart Crown and Skaphos just before the pandemic hit. Two members switched styles and initiated a band called Azken Auzi. A couple of concerts were also in the cards in 2023.
