History & Biography
The band started out as a cover band of Judas Priest, Pretty Maids and other tunes to doing full fledged originals and being named "Best French Group of 2003" by something called Hard Rock Magazine. The act was founded by François Merle and Daniel Pouylau in 1995 and released the Signe De Vie EP through Brennus Music in 1997. Members’ heritage included several well-known French hard and heavy bands. Avalon would release the EP in Japan in 2003. By this time guitarist Vince Mouyen had died. He had perished in 2001. The full-length was released through NTS only in 2002. This was the label’s first French release. The band toured with Royal Hunt, U.D.O. and Freedom Call. The group opened for Scorpions in Paris in 2005 and was booked for RaismesFest. L'ombre Et La lumière was due in 2005 initially, but was postponed to 2006. The group appeared at Hellfest in 2006. A boxed set compilation was called Original Album Classics and issued in 2009. The same label issued the group’s Récidive album. Stéphane Lacoude and Guillaume Rodriguez were introduced on the Volte-face album, but Lacoude was a returnee who had initially left in 1996.

The band toured with Myrath in Europe in 2018. Vocalist Carine Pinto replaced Didier Delsaux in 2018. Bruno Ramos was out in 2020. He joined Sortilège permanently. His replacement was Lionel Vizerie.

Rockshots Records Signed Manigance For the English version of its Les Bal Des Ombres album. It was named The Shadows Ball and out in February 2023. It was the first album without a full-time keyboard player. The band had made the decision to cover itself in English songs as “they wanted to make their music more accessible to foreign audiences in preparation for their 2023 European tour with Rhapsody of Fire in March (2023).” The album featured End Of Lock Up, which had a duet between Carine and Zaher Zorgati of Myrath.
