History & Biography Brandon, Manitoba’s Martial Barrage dates back to 2003. Sinister Sounds signed the band on the back of the Hail The Valkelion demo. The band went silent for four years until the appearance of a 2009 split with Arghoslent. Drakkar issued the Send Forth The Best Ye Breed split following a lengthy delay. This featured Jay 'Hippieshredder' Schneider who would die of a drug overdose in 2024.
NSBM imprint Sinistrari Records (whose owner is in Arghoslent) reappeared and released the reappeared band's Agents Of The Wolf Age album in 2021.
Reviews MARTIAL BARRAGE - CALL OF THE SERAPEUM - SINISTER SOUNDS
For a second there Winnipeg's Martial Barrage seemed like a good candidate for a rubbing, given pseudonyms that sound like Ikea furniture, but then one grows to appreciate the band's brutal, no frills death metal. The music is not that great. The riffs have been done before, as have the dual-vocal approach and they have all been sandwiched into a not so hot of a sound package. Nonetheless, it has been a while that a band this purely death metal made its way to Metallian Towers. The band's brutality is plain for all to hear, the growls are sincere and the riffs vintage death metal. To get an idea of the trio's sound imagine the crossing of early Monstrosity with the evil sludge that could be on an Incantation album. No, not too fashionable, not so-called melodic death metal or Nordic 'black metal', but unbridled sheer death metal in all its naked glory. Oh, and check out those massive lyrics. - Ali "The Metallian"
