History & Biography MCB was an East German heavy metal band that exceptionally made itself known in West Germany as well. The band was formed in 1983 and issued a live recording in 1985. Motörhead inspired the sound and image. It was called Mitschnitt Des Rundfunks or 'a recording from the broadcast.' The band appeared on a sampler with Plattform and the German Cobra. Ironically, the band split up just after the crumbling of the Iron Wall.
The band reappeared in 2002 with an album of Rammstein-influenced material. Heavy Mörtel Mischmaschine (1985-1989) was a 2019 compilation. Mike Demnitz posted some anti-mandate/anti-vaxxer stuff online in 2021. he called COVID's cases "low incident" and compared the health mandates to East Germany. This was, of course, on Facebook. The number of dead from COVID in Germany was a "low incident" of 175,000. The act was booked for Metal Power Open Air for the spring of 2024.
The group was named after the founding members, Mike-Charly-Bernd, but later changed its meaning to Motor-City-Barbaren or 'Motor City Barbarians.' Aside from Demnitz the other two were guitarist Charlie Ludwig and drummer Bernd Schilansky.
