History & Biography
Merlin was formed in Moscow, the capital of Russia, in 1992 by singer and bassist Mary Abaza and guitarist Alexander Ioffe. Until 1998, the band was comprised of Mary, Alexander and drummer Nick Byckoff. Arteom "Bolt" Nazarov joined the band in 1998. Nick Byckoff died in a car accident on July 13th, 2003. A new drummer Anatoliy Boychenko joined the band in September of 2003. Guitarist Dead Head was replaced with Rinat in 2008.

The Welcome To Hell demo came out in 1992 and was followed by Die and Prisoner Of Death tapes. They Must Die was issued by Great White North before being re-released by the Russian label CD-Maximum in 2004 with new artwork. The recording of Brutal Constructor was full of mishap including lost tracks and illness.

The band has shot several videos and opened for bands like Pungent Stench and Sinister. The group headlined 2009’s Death Metal Fest. Merlin has covered Death’s Zombie Ritual.
