History & Biography
Oregon-based Middian was formed by Scheidt in 2006 following the death knell of Yob. Two years later, he returned to the Yob name to recapture the awareness of the monicker again and beg to be excused from hassle from another bands with the name Middian. In the meantime, the band was briefly renamed Age Eternal. The band toured the USA in the summer of 2007. The Metal Blade contract was courtesy of Yob’s relationship with the label.

Reviews

MIDDIAN - AGE ETERNAL - METAL BLADE
Middian is incredible... excellent... crushing. The band formed around former YOB head Mike Scheidt is a ruthless lesson in how to serve up every sub-branch of doom metal. From sludge to funeral to power and psychedelic Age Eternal is comprised of five slabs of innovative, inventive and incredible doom.
Rife with atmosphere, but never lacking heaviness - even during the slow and foreboding interludes where the riffs sound like echoes in the wake of sasquatch - Age Eternal’s parts are like the pieces of a metal jigsaw puzzle that end up fitting perfectly to form the whole perfection. The backing vocals, the organic bass sound, the hyper-heavy riffs and the liftoff speeds are made to perfection for a total of 58 minutes. In fact, it is the vocals strangely which provide the most atmosphere whether in chant or growl mode. There are no pop numbers here. The songs might begin quietly, but that is a simple case of a calm before the explosion. Whether Disembowelment, Sleep, Dystopia or Shape Of Despair is the gig Middian does it just as well.
There is a sense of freedom, feeling of abandon and aura of heedlessness around Middian that screams 'artistic freedom.' How often can one say that about a band nowadays and maintain a straight face? - Anna Tergel
