History & Biography The group was formed by singer Ruttomieli and guitarist and bassist Loitsumestari Taikakallo in 2018. Ruttomieli came up with the monicker. They uploaded a song called Ice-Veiled Spell in 2022 and recorded a demo called Piercing Through The Frozen Eternity, which Avantgarde picked up several months later.
Avantgarde Music was releasing Moonlight Sorcery’s Horned Lord Of The Thorned Castle, which was described as melodic black metal from Finland, in the summer of 2023. Moonlight Sorcery was booked to perform at the 2025 edition of Fortress Festival, scheduled for May 31 - June 1 in the UK.
