History & Biography
Morbid Saint was formed in 1982 in Wisconsin as a thrash metal band before incorporating death metal elements. The band released a demo in 1988 called Lock Up Your Children. This demo became the band’s debut album, which was issued in 1990. Grind Core International, which was an imprint of Pavement, re-released the album in 1992. Eric Greif, who managed Death at the time, produced the album. Consequently, the group was given the opportunity to open for Death on tour. The band broke up in 1994, but reunited in 2010. A 1992 demo Destruction System had not done its job. A completed version was released in 2015. Morbid Saint appeared at the Maryland Deathfest in 2012 and toured Europe in 2013. The band’s material was independently re-released in 2012 using the Thrashaholic title. The band was aiming for a new 2014 album. Beyond The States Of Hell was recorded in Beijing. Cliff Wagner became the singer in 2016 and lasted until 2022. His replacement was his predecessor. Jim Fergades also returned. The group played at Blades of Steel Metal Fest 3 in 2023. Actual new music arrived courtesy of Swallowed By Hell in 2024. The act was booked for Hells Heroes Festival 2024. The band was booked for Metalitalia for September 2024 alongside Xentrix, Overkill, Ural, Cirith Ungol, Satan, Night Demon, Hell Fire, Destruction and Angelus Apatrida. The band was booked for Candelabrum festival, alongside Repulsion, Tygers Of Pan Tang Absu and others, in 2025.

The band has had many members come and go and also had Chris Djuricic of Jungle Rot work with it. Eric Greif was back with the band as well for a while.
