History & Biography
The impure black metal band was founded by Karulainen and Metällinen in 2014. The lyrics were in both Finnish and English. Bass player Tenho joined in 2022. When the band played its first show in May of 2024, the man responsible for the lighting, namely Liekkiö, liked what he heard and joined the band as the second guitarist. The band received a grant from the Kymin Osakeyhtiö corporate charitable grant in the same year.

Finland-based Mourniaty released its debut full-length Musta Maa ('Black Earth') through Inverse Records in November 2025.
