History & Biography This group was first heard through the Demo-lition demo in 2013. The act was founded in 2012 by Newfounderlandder and new Montreal resident Stephen reynolds. The next demo was issued in 2014. It was named M.E.C.H. Metal. The name referred to the members’ background, namely “Middle East Coast Heavy Metal.” The members were from the Middle East and Atlantic Canada. Boonsdale Records rereleased this demo in 2017. Regardless, the band lost guitarists Steven Breen and Mike Molloy in 2014. Band co-founder Breen, who returned home to Newfoundland, was replaced by Jordan Kelly briefly. Mutank won The Road To Wacken battle of the bands competition and played in Germany, at Wacken Open Air in 2014.
The band announced a tour of Canada with Annihilator for June of 2017. The thrash metal group Mutank was back in late 2024 with a new release after seven years since releasing the W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T. EP through Boonsdale Records in 2017. Entitled Think Before You Think, the album was released once again on Boonsdale Records on November 29th, 2024. There was a video for the song Illuminatus.
