History & Biography
Nargaroth was formed following the demise of an act called Exhuminenz in 1996. The members were Ash/Kanwulf, guitarist Charoon (who left in 2013) and bassist Darken (who left in 2007 at which time he was on guitar). The band became Ash's domain solely and has gone on to rival Volkswagen, Tönnies Holding and B.A.S.F. as one of the biggest employers in Germany since. Members come, members go and the act is always on the lookout for new bodies to hire (and fire). Regardless, and in the meantime, the first demo was called Herbstleyd and arrived in 1998. The next demo was called Orke and was licensed to the racist No Colours Records. The group's debut album was 1999's Herbstleyd. It was issued through the same No Colours Records. The year 2000 demo Fuck Off Nowadays Black Metal would not win any grammar or elegance awards, but made a stand nonetheless. Amarok was a compilation of older material including a track meant for a Burzum tribute. 2001's Black Metal Ist Krieg (A Dedication Monument) was one of those cover version releases that every second band releases. A track was dedicated to the dead Borknagar musician, Grim. Crushing Some Belgian Scum was a live EP in 2004.

Prosatanica Shooting Angels was dedicated to Akhenaten of Krieg and Judas Iscariot. Kanwuf had stood in on stage with Judas Iscariot in the year 2000. The Prosatanica Shooting Angel album was originally meant for a side-project by that name, but it ended up being released under the Nargaroth banner since the band and the man were indistinguishable. The man switched to the Ash alias, abandoning 'Kanwulf' at this juncture. A live compilation, again full of cover versions, was called Dead-Ication in 2008. The act was booked for Latin America in 2009. The act was billed at Canada's Messe Des Morts VII in 2017. This was a return after an appearance there in 2013. The act was booked for Latin America in 2015. A tour with Noctem was arranged for 2016. The band was to open for Absu and Hate in 2017 and tour with Belphegor in 2018.

Germany-based solo act Nargaroth had an album called Apocalyptic Steel. It was available through Season Of Mist on 26.06.2026. The man had signed with the label in 2022. The act was booked for Latin America in 2022. There were billings at Ragnarök Festival and Black Hole Fest in 2023. There was a 2026 tour of Latin America and the act was booked for the Drums Of War Festival in 2026.
