History & Biography Not to be confused with the other Necrosphere that emerged later, this band was founded in 1999, and lasted a mere four years, after the revision to the underground band Cenotaph. Cenotaph’s drummer Lorenzo was initially part of the line-up. The band was briefly Warhead in 1988 before becoming Cenotaph in the same year. Cenotaph had supported Biohazard, Cradle Of Filth and Carcass among others.
Italian label Warlord Records issued a single for the band called Mortis Causa in 2000. Diehard Music signed the band and put the group on the Checkpoint #3 compilation alongside the likes of Daemon and Illdisposed. The band’s Revived album of February 1st, 2002 was recorded at Blue Train Studio. The album was called 'Revived,' because after years of upheaval, including line-up changes, Cenotaph had in fact almost thrown in the towel and become inactive. The band called its music, "a cataclysm of raging brutal riffs and hyperblast beats." The group disbanded.
Reviews NECROSPEHRE - REVIVED - DIEHARD
Formerly Warhead and Cenotaph, Italy's Necrosphere is a band reborn after several off years. Even further down the brutality alley than their Cenotaph days, the largely static line-up lays claim to eleven tracks of Vader-meets-Malevolent Creation death metal fraught with speed and anger. The vocals are, but of course, gargled and follow the path laid by the
aforementioned acts. Then again the singing on Antropophagus is more or less Incantation-styled. The drums are there too blasting and rolling intermittently. Not bad, but one could certainly do without yet another (did I mention yet another?) cover. Does the world need yet another Slayer song redone? The band, undeterred, do promise to release more cover versions in the future. Why? Presumably because lesbians have short hair, that's why.
